The Fire Chief shall cause to be investigated the cause, origin and circumstances of every suspicious fire occurring in the city, and shall especially make investigation as to whether the fire was the result of carelessness or design. The investigation is to begin within the time provided by law. The Chief shall communicate and report to the State Fire Marshal, on forms to be furnished by him or her, the cause of the fire and all facts relating to the cause and origin of the fire, as provided by law.
