§ 1488.02 PURPOSE AND INTENT.
The purpose and intent of the Acquisition and Disposition of Blighted Property Program (the “Program”) is to promote safe, secure and well built homes and thereby protect the public health, safety and welfare. Through the city’s acquisition, rehabilitation and disposition of blighted property, the Program seeks to reduce the number of blighted properties in a timely manner that efficiently and effectively expands home ownership opportunities and strengthens neighborhoods. In addition, the Program is established to provide a mechanism whereby the city can participate in housing programs offered by the county, state and federal governments, including the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Veteran Affairs (hereinafter collectively referred to as “governmental entity”).
