For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ALCOHOL. The product of distillation of any fermented liquid, whether rectified or diluted, whatever the origin thereof, and includes synthetic ethyl alcohol, but does not include denatured alcohol or wood alcohol.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE. Includes alcoholic spirits, wine, beer and any liquid or solid, patented or not, containing alcohol, spirits, wine or beer, and capable of being consumed as a beverage by a human being. This chapter shall not apply to alcohol used in the manufacture of denatured alcohol produced in accordance with Acts of the United States Congress and regulations promulgated thereunder, nor to any liquid or solid containing 0.5% or less of alcohol by volume.
ORIGINAL PACKAGE. Any bottle, flask, jug, can, cask, barrel, keg, hogshead or other receptacle or container whatsoever that is used, corked or capped, sealed and labeled by a manufacturer of alcoholic beverages, to contain or convey alcoholic beverage.
RETAIL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE DEALER or RETAILER. Any person who engages in the business of retail sale of alcoholic beverages in the city.
RETAIL SALE or RETAIL PURCHASE. Any sale to a person for use or consumption and not for resale.
SALE or PURCHASE. Any transfer of ownership or title, or both, or any exchange or barter, in any manner or by any means whatsoever, for a valuable consideration.
WHOLESALE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE DEALER or WHOLESALER. Any person who engages in the business of selling or supplying alcoholic beverages to any person for resale in the city.
