For the purpose of this chapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
HOTEL. A building or structure kept, used, maintained or advertised as, or held out to the public to be, a place where sleeping accommodations are furnished for hire to transient guests, with or without meals, in which three or more guests are accommodated. HOTEL includes inns and public lodging houses, but does not include public nurseries or other establishments or places where infants are received for nursing and maintenance apart from their parents or guardians and retained for a period in excess of 24 hours where, for the receiving and retaining, compensation is received or charged.
