§ 680.02 PROHIBITION OF SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES.
   Smoking shall be prohibited in all enclosed public places and places of employment within the city, including without limitation the following places:
   (A)   Arcades;
   (B)   Aquariums, galleries, libraries and museums;
   (C)   Facilities primarily used for exhibiting a motion picture, stage, drama, lecture, musical recital or other similar performance;
   (D)   Health care facilities, adult care facilities and nursing homes;
   (E)   Day care centers, nursery schools, elementary schools, high schools, community colleges, technical training establishments, specialty schools, colleges and universities;
   (F)   Lobbies, hallways and other common areas in apartment buildings, condominiums and enclosed common area in trailer parks;
   (G)   Polling places;
   (H)   Public transportation facilities under the authority of government agencies, including without limitation buses, trains, taxicabs and limousines, and ticket, boarding and waiting areas of public transit stations;
   (I)   Restaurants, except in bar areas where air from the area is not drawn in or across any nonsmoking areas;
   (J)   Restrooms, lobbies, reception areas, hallways and other enclosed common use areas;
   (K)   Public elevators and all retail stores where merchandise is displayed and offered for sale;
   (L)   Rooms, chambers, places of meetings or public assembly, including without limitation school buildings, under the control of an agency, board, commission, committee or council or a political subdivision of the state, to the extent the place is subject to the jurisdiction of the city;
   (M)   Service lines;
   (N)   Shopping malls;
   (O)   Sports arenas or recreational areas, including without limitation enclosed places in outdoor areas;
   (P)   Grocery stores;
   (Q)   Public meetings;
   (R)   Gymnasiums;
   (S)   Gaming facilities; and
   (T)   Public and private school buildings.

Statutory reference:
   This chapter has been superseded by the Smoke Free Illinois Act, ILCS Ch. 410, Act 82, which prohibits smoking in nearly all places of employment and other public spaces. These provisions are retained in this code purely for historical purposes.
