§ 616.06 IMPOUNDMENT OF RABID ANIMALS.
   Provisions shall be made in each veterinary hospital for securely impounding any animal confined for observation for rabies. Special precautions shall be taken to securely and separately confine any such animal during the period of observation, and a report shall be made to the President of the Board of Health at the time the animal is accepted for confinement and again at the time the animal is released from the hospital. The animal shall also be vaccinated against rabies before being released, except for dogs declared dangerous, in which case, the animal may not be released unless the owner has paid all fines and costs and provides proof that the dangerous dog will not be kept or housed in the city, including giving the exact location where the dangerous dog will be kept such that the city can give the applicable governmental authorities notice of the dog’s new location and the city dangerous dog declaration.
