(A) Any violation of the provisions of this traffic code shall be punishable as provided in § 10.99 of this code of ordinances.

(B) (1) An owner or operator who fails to produce for inspection a valid and current security verification form or equivalent form which has been issued by the Department upon request of any peace officer of the Department shall, per § 70.05 of this chapter, be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be subject to a fine as provided in § 10.99 of this code of ordinances.
(2) A sentence imposed for any violation of § 70.05 of this chapter may be suspended or deferred in whole or in part by the court.
(3) Any person producing proof in court that a current security verification form or equivalent form which had been issued by the Department reflecting this liability coverage for such person was in force at the time of the alleged offense shall be entitled to dismissal of such charge.
(4) Upon conviction, bond forfeiture or deferral of sentence, the Court Clerk shall forward an abstract to the state’s Department of Public Safety within ten days reflecting the action taken by the court.
