The village did conduct and approve the St. Charles Road corridor plan in 1999, which provides a framework to assist the village in enhancing economic development and redevelopment on and around the village's primary commercial corridor – St. Charles Road. The establishment of an economic development commission is one of several key strategies identified by the plan to help facilitate and implement the goals and objectives set by the plan. Therefore, an advisory commission to promote and encourage business development within the village is hereby created, which shall be known as the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION.
