9-2-9: TEMPORARY CONNECTIONS:
In those instances in which connections are intended for the purposes of supplying water for use in construction or other similar use on a temporary basis, the following regulations shall apply:
   A.   Such connections may be made to three-fourths inch (3/4") diameter (or smaller) lines only and only after filing an application for hydrant meter rental.
   B.   In addition to all other fees provided herein, and in addition to all charges for the consumption of water, the user shall pay to the village a fee as established by the village board of trustees to be used to defray the costs of handling the hydrant meter rental application and a fee as established by the village board of trustees for each day such temporary connection is in place. As a condition precedent to the issuance of the permit for such temporary connection, the applicant for the permit shall deposit with the village the sum as prescribed by the village board.
   C.   No such temporary connection may be in place for a period in excess of thirty (30) days. A temporary meter shall be installed in such connection, and a permanent meter shall be installed as soon thereafter as is reasonably possible.
   D.   The provisions of this section shall not apply to water connections made where the use of the water is primarily intended for purposes of performing services of direct benefit to the village and pursuant to a contract with the village for such services.
   E.   The user of any temporary meter is responsible for the replacement cost of the meter in the event the meter is lost, stolen or damaged. (2016 Code)
