All appointments for the position of police officer shall be made by the board of fire and police commissioners from those applicants who have passed the examination(s) as provided for by the board of fire and police commissioners and/or state law. Each appointee, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take and subscribe the oath of office prescribed by law. Such oath shall be administered as required by law. The oath shall be filed in the office of the village clerk. (2016 Code)
