6-1-2: CHIEF OF POLICE:
   A.   Office Created; Appointment: There is hereby created the office of chief of police. The village president, with the consent of the board of trustees, shall appoint the chief of police for the village.
   B.   General Duties: The chief shall be in charge of all activities of the police department, subject to all then existing ordinances of the village, state and federal law and actions taken by the board of trustees. The chief shall cause the public peace to be preserved and shall see that all laws and ordinances are enforced. The chief shall superintend and direct the officers of the police department generally and from time to time give such directions and prescribe such rules and regulations and policies and procedures for the conduct and guidance of the members of the police department as the chief may deem proper and necessary for the preservation of the peace and good order and enforcement of the laws and ordinances of the village. The chief shall instruct all police officers concerning their duties and see that a record is kept of all complaints made and arrest tickets issued, and shall make a report once a month at the regular meeting of the board of trustees concerning the affairs of the police department.
