(a) All full-time employees are entitled to paid vacation time according to their length of service:
Years of Service | Vacation |
After one full year through 5 years | 2 weeks |
After 5 consecutive years | 3 weeks |
After 12 consecutive years | 4 weeks |
After 20 consecutive years | 5 weeks |
(b) Vacation credits are expected to be used after 12 months accumulated. In unusual circumstances, with the approval of the Mayor and Department Head, an employee may be permitted to carry-over a portion of accumulated vacation into the next vacation period.
(c) Vacation schedules are to be prepared by Department Heads and submitted to the Mayor. It shall be the policy of each Department Head to schedule vacations so as to make temporary increases in personnel unnecessary.
(d) Seniority will ordinarily determine vacation dates, but schedules may be subject to any adjustments necessary for the best interests of the Village.
(e) Unless approved by the Mayor, accumulated vacation time will not be paid upon separation from employment if less than two weeks' notice of intention to leave the employ of the Village is given by the employee.
(f) No service with another political subdivision will be accepted as credit toward vacation time.
