618.12   HUNTING PROHIBITED.
   (a)   The hunting of animals or fowl within the Municipality is prohibited. No person shall hunt, kill or attempt to kill any animal or fowl by the use of firearms or any other means. However, nothing in this section shall be deemed to prohibit the killing of rats and other undesirable rodents authorized to be killed by the Chief of Police using means for such killing which are also authorized by the Chief.
   (b)   Exceptions to division (a) above will occur for limited deer hunting as permitted under Section 672.09(a) of these Codified Ordinances, and/or when a property owner within the Village requests a permit for the purpose of trapping deer within the confines of their property. The latter permit will be obtained from the Chief of Police, and will be in compliance with the Regulations of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Such trapping will only take place within the confines of the homeowner's property and all neighboring properties must be notified ten days in advance thereof. Only qualified professionals approved by the Chief of Police will be permitted to perform such trapping services. Approved professionals may only use live traps and/or traps which are approved by the Chief of Police. No trap used shall present any danger to domestic animals or people. The approved professionals must also dispose of any trapped animals in a manner consistent with Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and approved by the Chief of Police.

   (c)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
