The police chief may make or prescribe such rules and regulations for the department as he shall deem advisable. Such rules and regulations, when approved by the village's corporate authorities, shall be binding on the members of the department. The rules and regulations may cover the conduct of the members, uniforms and equipment to be worn or carried, hours of service, and all other similar matters necessary or desirable for the better efficiency of the department.
The rules and regulations of the police department of the village of Bensenville, as adopted and amended from time to time by ordinance of the village's corporate authorities, are hereby approved and adopted as the rules and regulations of the police department of the village of Bensenville until further action of the village's corporate authorities.
