There is hereby created one police chief, two (2) deputy police chiefs, five (5) sergeants, twenty seven (27) police officers and one code enforcement officer. There is also created within the department one "criminal investigation" division to be composed of no more than five (5) regularly assigned detectives to be filled as follows: one detective sergeant, four (4) detectives to be filled from the twenty seven (27) police officer positions, and one school resource officer to be filled from the twenty seven (27) police officer positions. Other than the one detective sergeant, there shall be no other sergeants assigned to the "criminal investigation" division. The board of trustees may provide for additional members from time to time.
