Notwithstanding any provisions of the International Building Code, 2018 Edition, International Residential Code, 2018 Edition, International Existing Building Code, 2018 Edition, International Mechanical Code, 2018 Edition, Uniform Plumbing Code, 2018 Edition, International Energy Conservation Code, 2018 Edition, or International Fuel Gas Code, 2018 Edition to the contrary, the City Clerk/Treasurer is hereby designated as the Building Official and Code Official for purposes of administration of the codes. Any reference in any of said codes to the Department of Building Safety shall be deemed to mean and refer to the Office of the City Clerk/Treasurer. The city may employ, by contract or otherwise, individuals to provide inspection services as required under the codes, and the persons, when so employed or contracted, shall be under the supervision and direction of the City Clerk/Treasurer.
