A. Commission Established: A planning and zoning commission is hereby established in and for the county. (Ord. 60, 7-10-1989; amd. 2011 Code)
B. Composition; Qualifications: The commission shall consist of seven (7) members. All members must have been residents of the county five (5) years immediately preceding appointment to the commission and must reside within the county while serving on the commission. Members shall be selected without respect to political affiliations. Provided, however, that no more than one-third (1/3) of the members of the commission may reside within an incorporated city of one thousand five hundred (1,500) or more population in the county.
C. Appointment And Compensation: Members shall be appointed by the chairman of the board of county commissioners and confirmed by the governing board. Compensation for members shall consist of reimbursement for travel expenses while on commission business at the per diem and mileage rate set for travel by county officials and/or county employees.
D. Term Of Office: All members shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years, except that three (3) members of the original commission shall be appointed for three (3) year terms.
E. Vacancies; Removals:
1. Vacancies on the commission shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointments.
2. Removal Of Members: Members may be removed, after a public hearing, by a majority vote of the governing board. (Ord. 60, 7-10-1989)
