§ 150.17 CONTRACTORS TO BE LICENSED AND BONDED.
   (A)   All contractors performing work on items governed by the adopted code and standards of the village shall be licensed and bonded to do work within the corporate limits of the village.
   (B)   Only licensed plumbers shall do plumbing work, except that homeowners may repair any lawfully installed plumbing system in their personal residence. A personal residence shall be construed as a place of domicile of record for a period in excess of six months.
   (C)   Only licensed electricians shall do electric work, except that homeowners may repair any lawfully installed electrical system in their personal residence. A personal residence shall be construed as a place of domicile of record for a period in excess of six months.
   (D)   Only licensed HVAC contractors shall do HVAC work, except that homeowners may repair any lawfully installed HVAC system in their personal residence. A personal residence shall be construed as a place of domicile of record for a period in excess of six months.
   (E)   Only licensed roofing contractors shall do roofing work, except that homeowners may repair any lawfully installed roofing system in their personal residence. A personal residence shall be construed as a place of domicile of record for a period in excess of six months.
   (F)   Only licensed sewer contractors shall do sewer work, except that homeowners may repair any lawfully installed sewer system in their personal residence. A personal residence shall be construed as a place of domicile of record for a period in excess of six months.
   (G)   Only licensed general trade contractors shall do general trade work, except that homeowners may repair any lawfully installed general system in their personal residence. A personal residence shall be construed as a place of domicile of record for a period in excess of six months.
   (H)   A photocopy of the, electrical contractor's license shall be submitted when registering. Only electrical licenses obtained through competency testing will be accepted.
   (I)   A certificate of insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 must be submitted to the Building Commissioner prior to permit issuance. Prior to the issuance of a permit, a bond in the minimum amount of $10,000, except where work to be performed exceeds the minimum bond amount the bond shall be for the actual cost of work to be performed, shall be executed by a surety company authorized to transact business in the State of Illinois as surety on the bond with the applicant as principal on the bond, and the Village of Bellwood listed as the certificate holder on both certificates.
   (J)   Roofing contractors shall produce a copy of their state roofing license when registering to work in the village.
   (K)   Plumbing contractors shall produce a copy of their state or Chicago plumbing license along with their ID when registering to work in the village.
Plumbers presenting a Chicago plumbing license shall also show proof that they have completed the state required continuing education requirement to work outside of Chicago. Plumbing contractors are exempt from the requirements of producing liability insurance and bond certificates.
