(A) Creation. There shall be and is hereby created the office of Director of Public Safety, an administrative office within the village.
(B) Appointment. The Director of Public Safety shall be appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.
(C) Supervision of the Public Safety Group. The Director of Public Safety shall supervise all aspects of the Public Safety Group which shall include but not be limited to the business aspects as assigned to the Department in the annual budget.
(D) Duties. The Director of Public Safety shall oversee the activities and administrative operations of the personnel and contracts assigned to the Public Safety Group. The respective chiefs of each department shall report directly to the Director of Public Safety. The Director of Public Safety shall coordinate the operations of the Bellwood Police Department, Bellwood Fire Department and the Bellwood Office of Emergency Management. This oversight shall include but not be limited to responsibility over budget, operations, discipline, personnel, appointments and policy issues.
