(A) Lot. At least 20% of the lot or parcel being developed shall be landscaped. At least 60% of the site's landscaping shall be between the building(s) and public or private streets.
(B) Trees. Of the area being landscaped, there shall be at least one tree for every 500 square feet of landscaped area. One-third of the trees shall be evergreens a minimum of six feet in height, one-third ornamental a minimum of two and one-half inch caliper or six feet clump form and one-third shade trees a minimum of two and one-half inch caliper, except in permitted natural landscaping areas. In such areas, 100% of the trees shall be native plant material specific to the soils, hydrology, and proposed ecosystems. Evergreen trees are toxic to and incompatible with prairie plants and should not be used in native landscape areas. Trees of each species to be installed in natural landscaping areas shall be a minimum of two and one-half inch caliper or six foot clump form except for the following species which can be planted at two inch caliper: oak, hickory, walnut, and chestnut.
(C) Shrubs. One shrub shall be planted for every 100 square feet of landscaped area. In conventional landscaping, 50% of the shrubs shall be deciduous and 50% evergreen. For shrubs that mature at less than five feet in height, minimum installation size shall be two feet. For shrubs that mature taller than five feet in height, minimum installation size shall be three feet. In permitted natural landscaping areas, 100% of the shrubs shall be native plant material specific to the soils, hydrology, and proposed ecosystems.
