§ 33.42 AUTHORITY OF ARREST.
   The several members of the Police Department of the village are hereby severally authorized to arrest, with or without process, or on view, any person breaking the peace or to be found violating any provision of this code or other ordinance of the village or any criminal law of the state and to take such person before the Police Magistrate of the village or any justice of the peace of the county or, if necessary, to detain such person in custody overnight or Sunday in the village jail or any other safe place, until they can be brought before the proper magistrate or justice for trial.
