§ 31.36 DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS.
   (A)   Creation of office; appointment. There is hereby created the office of Director of Public Works, an executive office of the village. The Director of Public Works shall be appointed by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees.
   (B)   Compensation. The compensation of the Director of Public Works shall be fixed at the time of his or her appointment.
   (C)   Supervision of officers and employees of Department of Public Works. All employees assigned to the Department of Public Works shall perform their duties subject to the orders and under the supervision of the Director of Public Works.
   (D)   Powers and duties. The Director of Public Works shall have charge and care of the following:
      (1)   Functioning, maintenance and repair of the village water works and water distribution systems;
      (2)   Functioning, maintenance and repair of all public streets, alleys and driveways in the village and wit the keeping of the same clean;
      (3)   Functioning, maintenance and repair of all gutters and drains and with the keeping of the same clean and free from defects;
      (4)   Functioning, maintenance and repair of sanitary and storm sewer systems of the village and shall see to it that the same are kept in good repair and free from defects; and
      (5)   Functioning, maintenance and repair of the lighting of the public streets and alleys and shall keep the lighting system in efficient operation and good repair.
   (E)   Reports on work done. The Village President or Comptroller may request monthly reports or interim reports on work done by the office of the Director of Public Works; they shall also receive recommendations for rulings, orders or ordinances respecting the water quality and public health of the residents of the village whenever he or she is requested to do so, or whenever he or she deems it advisable.
   (F)   Additional duties. The Director of Public Works shall perform such duties and functions, in addition to those delineated in this section, as may be required by statute or the provisions of this code or other ordinances of the village.
