§ 27-198 APPLICATION.
   (A)   Each applicant for a license, required by the preceding section, shall make application to the Permits and Inspections Department on blank forms prepared and furnished by such department and indicating thereon whether the application is for a master or journeyman mechanical license.
   (B)   Examination. Application for Mechanical examinations will be administered by an authorized testing agency, the applications for said examination shall be provided by the Permits and Inspections Department, and the applicant must provide proof of the following:
      (1)   A mechanical apprentice shall be employed full time under the supervision and guidance of a master mechanical contractor and shall be exempt from examination during the period and time said license is in effect. Mechanical apprentice licenses are established to provide individuals with the ability to pursue time and grade criteria for future licensing.
      (2)   An unlimited mechanical journeyman must have a minimum of three years of practical work experience under a licensed unlimited mechanical master as an apprentice and pass the journeyman unlimited air conditioning exam with a minimum grade of 70 percent.
      (3)   A limited mechanical journeyman must have a minimum of three years of practical work experience under a licensed mechanical master as an apprentice and pass the journeyman heating exam with a minimum grade of 70 percent. (The limitation of this license is for residential one and two family dwellings and accessory structures with a furnace not to exceed 200,000 BTUs of input and an air conditioning system not to exceed five tons of cooling capacity.)
      (4)   A limited sheet metal journeyman must have a minimum of three years of practical work experience under a licensed mechanical master as an apprentice and pass the sheet metal exam with a minimum grade of 70 percent.
      (5)   An unlimited sheet metal journeyman must have a minimum of three years of practical work experience under a licensed master mechanical contractor as an apprentice and pass the sheet metal examination with a minimum grade of 70 percent.
      (6)   An unlimited mechanical master must provide proof of a minimum of three years as an apprentice, and three years as a licensed mechanical journeyman and pass the residential air conditioning exam with a minimum grade of 70 percent. (The limitation of this license is for residential one and two family dwellings and accessory structures with a furnace not to exceed 200,000 BTUs of input and an air conditioning system not to exceed five tons of cooling capacity.)
      (7)   An unlimited mechanical master must provide proof of a minimum of three years as an apprentice, and three years as a licensed unlimited mechanical journeyman and pass the heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation exam with a minimum grade of 70 percent.
