(A) The International Fire Code shall be enforced by the department of fire prevention in the fire department of the city, which shall be operated by the fire code official under the supervision of the chief of the fire department.
(B) The fire code official in charge of the department of fire prevention shall be appointed by the chief of the fire department on the basis of examination to determine his or her qualifications.
(C) The fire chief may detail such members of the fire department as inspectors as shall from time to time be necessary.
(D) The fire chief may recommend to the mayor and council the employment of technical inspectors as shall from time to time be necessary.
