§ 10-5 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:
   APPLIANCE. Utilization equipment normally built in standardized sizes or types that is installed or connected as a unit to perform one or more functions such as clothes washers, air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, food mixing, deep frying, etc.
   APPRENTICE ELECTRICIAN. A person, other than a licensee, who, as his/her principal occupation, is engaged in learning and assisting in the installation, alteration, and repair of electric apparatus as an employee of a licensed electrician. He/she is not allowed to do work on or install electrical apparatus without a licensed journeyman electrician or electrical contractor in his/her presence. He/she shall be registered with the Nebraska State Electrical Board.
   BELLEVUE BUILDING CODE. The code of rules adopted by the City of Bellevue which regulates site preparation and construction, alteration, moving, demolition, repair, use, and occupancy of buildings, structures, and building service equipment within the jurisdiction of Bellevue.
   CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL. The individual responsible for the direct control and operations of the Permits and Inspections Department.
   ELECTRICAL APPARATUS. All wires, wiring, materials, machinery, appliances, equipment, and fixtures used or designed to be used in the utilization of electricity when connected with a source of electromotive force for the purpose of producing light, heat, or power, directly or indirectly.
   ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR. A person who is qualified in skilled planning, supervision, and practical installation of electrical apparatus and is licensed by the state electrical board to contract for electrical apparatus installations and install electrical apparatus.
   ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR. A person having the necessary qualifications, whose duty it is to inspect electrical apparatus and assist in enforcing the Bellevue electrical code, under the supervision of the chief building official in the Permits and Inspections Department.
   ELECTRICIAN. A person licensed by the Nebraska State Electrical Board to install or maintain electric apparatus. Master electricians, journeyman electricians, and electrical contractors are ELECTRICIANS.
   FINAL INSPECTION. The inspection of electrical apparatus after completion of electrical installation and any other building material covering has been installed and completed.
   FIRE ALARM INSTALLER. A person who is licensed by the state electrical board to install fire alarms and its associated equipment.
   FIRST INSPECTION (ROUGH IN INSPECTION). Inspection of electrical apparatus prior to being covered with building material or concealed.
   INSTALL, INSTALLED OR INSTALLATION. The construction and placing in position for service and use of any electric apparatus and the alteration, modification, or repair of existing electric apparatus.
   JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN. A person who is qualified in supervision and practical installation of electrical apparatus and is licensed by the state electrical board to install electrical apparatus under an electrical contractor’s authority.
   JURISDICTION OF BELLEVUE. The area within the city limits of Bellevue and within the two mile zoning jurisdiction shall be collectively referred to as the “jurisdiction of Bellevue.”
   MASTER ELECTRICIAN. A person who is qualified in skilled planning and supervision of the installation of electric apparatus and is licensed by the state electrical board to contract for electrical apparatus installations.
   ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. The repair or replacement of existing electrical apparatus and equipment of the same size and type for which no changes in electrical wiring are made.
   UNIFORM ADMINISTRATIVE CODE. An administrative and enforcement code adopted by the Bellevue Building Code.
