§ 8-132 APPLICATION.
   Each applicant for a license required by the preceding section shall make application to the permits and inspection division on forms prepared and furnished by such division and indication thereon which class of license the application is made for.
   (A)   Examination. Contractor examinations shall be composed and given by the independent testing authority approved by the building official.
   (B)   Building contractor classifications.
      (1)   Class A-general contractor unlimited. The scope of a general contractor unlimited shall include the construction, repair, alteration, remodeling, addition to, subtraction from, and improvement of any structure including related improvement to real estate excluding electrical, mechanical, plumbing and liquefied gas or natural gas work relating thereto. This contractor is unlimited as to the height, area, and complexity of a building, structure, or related real property improvements, and is authorized to perform the work of all builder and specialty builder categories and classes listed below.
      (2)   Class B-general contractor limited. The scope of work of a general contractor limited shall include and be limited to the construction of commercial buildings, single and multifamily dwellings, and accessory use structures in connection therewith, all of which shall not exceed three stories in height, and shall exclude the installation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, liquefied petroleum or natural gas work. This contractor is limited as to the height, area, and complexity of a building, structure, or related real property improvements as defined herein and is authorized to perform the work of all builder and specialty builder categories and classes listed below.
      (3)   Class C-residential contractor unlimited. The scope of work of a residential contractor unlimited shall be limited to the construction, remodeling, repair or improvement of one, two or three family dwellings, and accessory used structure in connection therewith and not exceeding three stories or 35 feet in height. This contractor is limited as to height area, and complexity of a building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, liquefied petroleum or natural gas work, and is authorized to perform the work of all builder categories and classes listed below.
      (4)   Class D-residential/commercial limited. The scope of work of a residential/commercial contractor limited shall be limited to the addition, remodeling and alterations of one and two family dwellings, and accessory structures in connection therewith, and not exceeding three stories and 35 feet in height, including, not limited to rough framing, structural and non-structural, trusses, decks, siding, roofing, sheathing and shall include the construction, repair of commercial accessory structures, decks, siding, windows and roofing. A residential/commercial contractor limited shall be excluded from electrical, mechanical, plumbing, liquefied petroleum or natural gas work.
      (5)   Class E-roofing contractor unlimited. The scope of work of a roofing contractor unlimited shall be limited to the installation, repair or replacement of roof coverings. Work may include but shall not be limited to roof and deck insulation, roof coating, painting and covering, including the use of sheet metal products incidental to roofing work or other materials in connection therewith or any combinations thereof and including the installation of nonstructural, decking and siding, steep roof coverings and installation of asphalt shingles, fiberglass, shingles, asphalt rolled roofing materials, clay tile, concrete tile, slate, wood shake or shingle, and other prefabricated shingle products.
