§ 3-18 BENCH SPECIFICATIONS.
   All benches installed by permission of this article shall conform rigidly to the following specifications unless otherwise approved by the public works director.
   (A)   The bench shall not be more than six feet in length, not to exceed 42 inches in height and must be at least 30 inches in depth.
   (B)   The bench must be of heavy construction materials to weigh not less than 400 pounds in its finished state.
   (C)   The end-pieces and legs shall be constructed of concrete or solid metal materials strong enough to support 2,000 pounds of direct weight.
   (D)   The backrest shall be constructed of hardwood, plywood, metal, thick fiberglass or new polymer materials currently manufactured for commercial use.
   (E)   The seat shall be constructed of hardwood, metal, thick fiberglass or new polymer materials currently manufactured for commercial use.
   (F)   The several parts of the benches shall be joined by bolts and anchor points of three-eighths inch or greater diameter, epoxy materials, and/or welded together to maintain a minimum strength of 2,000 pounds.
   (G)   Special designed benches shall be permitted in locations subject to approval of the public works director.
