§ 31.40 DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
   (A)   Organization. There shall be a Department of Public Safety, the head of which shall either be the City Administrative Officer or some other officer appointed pursuant to KRS 83A.080.
   (B)   Restriction. The Director of Public Safety shall not occupy any of the subordinate positions within the Department of Public Safety.
   (C)   Responsibility. The Director of Public Safety, subject to the supervision of the City Administrative Officer and the Mayor, shall be responsible for the efficient operation of the services of the Department.
   (D)   Divisions. Within the Department of Public Safety there shall be divisions known as the Fire Department, Police Department, Building Inspection, Civil Preparedness, and Animal Control.
   (E)   Administration. Subject to the executive authority of the Mayor, the Director of Public Safety shall be responsible for the administration and discipline of the aforesaid divisions and for the enforcement and execution of all laws and ordinances and of the rules and regulations of those divisions listed in division (D) of this section.
   (F)   Oath of office. The oath of office to be executed by the Director of Public Safety shall be that set forth in Section 228 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
   (G)   Compensation. Compensation for this office shall be set by an annual salary ordinance. If this officer is also the City Administrative Officer, there shall be no additional compensation.
