§ 72.03 LIMITATIONS OF STOPPING AND PARKING.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to stop or park such vehicle except in a case of real emergency or in compliance with the provisions of this traffic code or when directed by a police officer or traffic sign or signal at any time in the following places:
      (1)   On the mainly-traveled portion of any roadway or on any other place in the roadway where vehicles stand in any manner other than as specified in § 72.02.
      (2)   On a sidewalk.
      (3)   In front of sidewalk ramps provided for persons with disabilities.
      (4)   In front of a public or private driveway.
      (5)   Within an intersection or crosswalk.
      (6)   At any place where official signs prohibit stopping or parking. This does not apply to police officers when operating properly identified vehicles during the performance of their official duties.
      (7)   Within 30 feet of any flashing beacon, traffic sign, or traffic-control device.
      (8)   On any controlled access highway.
      (9)   Within a highway tunnel.
      (10)   Within fifteen (15) feet of a fire hydrant.
      (11)   In an area between the roadways of a divided highway.
      (12)   No person shall move a vehicle not lawfully under his control into any such prohibited area.

      (13)   Within 15 feet of the driveway entrance to the fire station and within the area opposite thereof as designated by appropriate signs.
      (14)   Within five feet of either side of a fire hydrant.
      (15)   In any area designated by signage as a fire lane.
   (B)   No person shall park without a permit on the highways, streets, alleys, or any right-of-way or property of the city between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. any of the following: any commercial vehicle as defined in KRS 186.101(11); any other vehicle originally designed and built, or altered, with a dual wheel axle or with tandem axles, with the exception of compact, duel-wheel pick-up trucks not exceeding 80 inches in height or 96 inches in overall width or both; any scrapping vehicle as defined by § 70.02; any motor vehicle or mobile unit that exceeds 80 inches in height or exceeds 96 inches in overall width or both; any trailer of any kind, whether hooked to any other vehicle or parked independently; any road rollers, road graders, farm tractors or equipment, vehicles on which power shovels are mounted, such other construction equipment customarily used only on the site of construction and which is not practical for the transportation of persons upon the highways; any vehicle exceeding 3/4-ton capacity; any devices moved by human or animal power.
   (C)   There is excepted from provision (B) of this section the following: any public works service vehicle; any police, fire or other emergency vehicle; any vehicle being used for emergency service or restoration of utilities, such as water, gas, electric and phone systems; any vehicle which bears, or any vehicles being used by any company or organization which holds, a temporary permit, free of charge, issued by the Mayor or his designee; or any vehicle making deliveries to or from a location within the city during the restricted time.
