(a) No person shall operate an USV on the streets within the City of Bellevue unless the USV has been inspected and approved by the Chief of Police or his/her designee for the compliance with the State of Ohio's statutory requirements that are applicable to motor vehicles. Appointments for inspections can be scheduled through the Police Department. The owner or operator of any USV shall be required to pay an inspection fee to be determined by the Chief of Police and the Safety-Service Director.
(b) If the Chief of Police or his/her designee determines that the USV complies with the minimum State of Ohio statutory requirements applicable to motor vehicles, the Police Department shall authorize an Ohio County Clerk of Courts to issue an Ohio Certificate of Title to the USV using the inspection sheet with a valid permit number. Said inspection sheet shall be prepared at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
(c) The Police Department will inspect USV(s) for the City of Bellevue upon appointment. Appointments must be made in advance. All requests for inspection will be forwarded to the Chief of Police or his designee.
(d) Appointments will be scheduled according to the designated officer's schedule.
(e) USV(s) must be inspected, titled, and registered in order to operate on a public street or property (OAC 4501:2-1-02 and 4513 or successor provisions.)
(f) Permits issued by an outside jurisdiction for a USV will not be given reciprocity in the City. (Ord. 14-18. Passed 9-10-18.)
