901.02 SUPERVISION AND CERTIFICATION BY SERVICE DIRECTOR.
   Upon the granting of an excavation permit, the Director of Public Service shall superintend the necessary excavation and backfilling. Backfilling shall be accomplished using tamped limestone screenings or tamped sand backfill. Restoration of pavement base shall be made with concrete or other acceptable material. Concrete base for restoration shall have a minimum thickness of six inches, or shall conform to the thickness of the original base to be restored. The surface course of the pavement shall be restored to the type of surface disturbed or as directed by the Director of Public Service.
   Upon completion of the work for which a permit has been issued, the Director of Public Service shall have the same inspected and if the street is found to be in good condition, and the work having been completed in accordance with these provisions, he shall so certify to the Auditor, who shall thereupon return the deposit made. In the event of the material not being properly replaced and the street left in good order and condition, the Director of Public Service may cause the same to be repaired in an acceptable manner and certify the cost thereof to the Auditor, who shall deduct that amount from the sum so deposited and return the balance, if any, to the depositor.
