§ 153.03 AMENDMENTS TO GAS, OIL AND SOLID FUEL BURNER CODE.
   The Gas Code known as the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1, NFPA 54 is amended and changed in the following respect by section/subsection. The manufacture instructions for the installation of oil and solid fuel consuming devices shall not be amended.
   (A)   Part 1, General. 1.7, Definitions, add:
      The term “install” for gas and oil consuming devices shall mean, connecting said device to an approved size and kind of fuel line. The term “install” for solid fuel devices shall mean setting up of device and observing all manufacturers installation instructions.
   (B)   Part 2, Gas Piping System Design, Materials and Components.
      (1)   Retain entire part; and
      (2)   2.4, Sizing of gas piping systems. Add:
         Gas fuel line shall be a minimum size of one (1) inch from the utility connection to a point adjacent to the largest input device.
   (C)   Part 3, Gas Piping Installation.
      (1)   Retain entire part; and
      (2)   3.2, Aboveground piping outside. Add:
         On modular or mobile homes, the fuel line from the utility connection shall be iron pipe.
   (D)   Part 4, Gas Piping Inspection, Testing and Purging. Retain entire part.
   (E)   Part 5, Equipment Installation.
      (1)   Retain entire part;
      (2)   5.5.1 a, Connecting gas equipment. Add:
         Gas fired log starters shall be connected with iron pipe. Decorative gas logs may be connected with type “L” copper tubing. An accessible gas shut off valve shall be installed at the supply connection.
      (3)   5.6, Electrical. Add:
         A vent safety switch shall be installed in the draft diverter relief opening of all natural draft gas fired heating equipment and all water heating equipment rated at 50,000 BTU/HR input or higher. Any type of manual re-set switch which opens at 165-180 degrees F. may be used. This switch shall be wired in series with the control voltage circuit of the main gas valve, (12OV-24V or Millivolt), and positioned to insure positive shutdown of main burner(s) in the event of vent system failure. It shall be the responsibility of the installer to verify the operation of this switch.
   (F)   Part 6, Installation of Specific Equipment.
      (1)   Retain entire part; and
      (2)   6.6.3 d, Plenums and air ducts. Add:
         Any return air duct installed with a filter access slot outside the blower compartment shall be equipped with a filter slot cover so designed as to permit changing the filter without the use of tools.
   (G)   Part 7, Venting of Equipment. Retain entire part.
   (H)   Part 8, Procedures to Be Followed to Place Equipment in Operation. Retain entire part.
   (I)   Part 9, Modifications to Existing Applicant Installations for the Purpose of Fuel Conservation. Retain entire part.
   (J)   Appendix A. Retain.
   (K)   Appendix B. Retain.
   (L)   Appendix C.   Retain.
   (M)   Appendix D. Retain.
   (N)   Appendix E. Retain.
   (O)   Appendix F. Retain.
   (P)   Appendix G.   Delete and add:
      Sizing of vent systems shall be in accordance with the 1990 Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Venting Tables for Category 1 Central Furnaces, which are provided in this Code book.
