The City Attorney shall prosecute and defend all suits and actions originating and pending in any court of the state to which the city is a party, or in which, in the opinion of the Mayor or City Council, the interests of the city are affected, or in which the official acts of any of the officers, agents or employees of the city are involved. He or she shall advise the City Council and its committees, and any city officer, on such legal questions as may arise in relation to the business of the city, and shall perform such other services as may be required of him or her.
