The city shall be, and is hereby divided into eight wards, which shall be known and designated as follows: First Ward, Second Ward, Third Ward, Fourth Ward, Fifth Ward, Sixth Ward, Seventh Ward and Eighth Ward.
(A) First Ward. The First Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street) and “J” Street; thence south along the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street) to the intersection of the centerline of Douglas Avenue; thence easterly-southeasterly along the centerline of Douglas Avenue to the intersection of the centerline of “A” Street; thence northeast along the centerline of “A” Street to a point 751 feet southwest of the centerline of West Boulevard; thence following the easterly-northeasterly city limits line of the city as it meanders to the street centerline of Lebanon Avenue; thence following the northerly city limits line to the point of beginning.
(B) Second Ward. The Second Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street) and “J” Street; thence west along the northerly city limits line of the City of Belleville, Illinois, to its intersection with the street centerline of North 17th Street; thence north along the centerline of North 17th Street to its intersection with North 28th Street; thence west along the centerline of North 28th Street to its intersection with the centerline of West Main Street; thence south along the centerline of West Main Street to its intersection with the centerline of South 29th Street; thence west along the centerline of South 29th Street to a point 300 feet west of its intersection with the centerline of Otto Street; thence following the city limits line southeasterly and southwesterly to the endpoint of the centerline of South 23rd Street; thence southwesterly to the intersection of the centerline of South 2st Street and the centerline of Madison Street; thence southwesterly along South 21st Street to its endpoint; thence southwesterly along the westerly edge of “Roosevelt Heights” Subdivision; thence east along the city limits line to its intersection with South 16th Street; thence along the centerline of South 16th Street to its intersection with the centerline of West Main Street; thence east along the centerline of West Main Street as it turns into East Main Street, to its intersection with the centerline of Douglas Avenue; thence northwest along the centerline of Douglas Avenue its intersection with the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street); thence north along the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street) to the point of beginning.
(C) Third Ward. The Third Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of North 17th Street and the centerline of North 28th Street; thence north along the easterly city limits line of the City of Belleville, to its intersection with North Belt West; thence east along the northerly right-of-way line of North Belt East; thence following the northeasterly city limits line to its intersection with the centerline of Royal Heights Road; thence south along the centerline of Royal Heights Road to its intersection with the centerline of North Belt West; thence west along the centerline of North Belt West to its intersection with the centerline of West Main Street; thence east along the centerline of West Main Street to its intersection with the centerline of South 35th Street; thence west along the centerline of South 35th Street to a point 436 feet west of the terminus of the centerline of South 35th Street; thence south along the city limits line to its intersection with the centerline of South 29th Street; thence east along the centerline of South 29th Street to its intersection with the centerline of West Main Street; thence west along the centerline of West Main Street to its intersection with the centerline of North 28th Street; thence east along the centerline of North 28th Street to the point of beginning.
(D) Fourth Ward. The Fourth Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of North Belt West and the centerline of West Main Street; thence easterly along the centerline of North Belt West to its intersection with the centerline of Royal Heights Road; thence northerly along the centerline of Royal Heights Road to the northerly city limits line of the City of Belleville, Illinois; thence in a general northwest direction along the city limits line in its various courses and meanders to the centerline of West Main Street; thence southeast along the centerline of West Main Street to the centerline of North Belt West, being the point of beginning.
(E) Fifth Ward. The Fifth Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of West Main Street at its intersection with the centerline of South 16th Street; thence southwesterly along 16th Street to its intersection with the southwesterly city limits line of the City of Belleville; thence in a general southeast direction along the city limits line in its various courses and meanders to its easternmost intersection with the centerline line of State Route 15; thence northwest along the centerline of State Route 15 to its intersection with the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street); thence north along the centerline of North Illinois Street to its intersection with the centerline of West Main Street; thence west along the centerline of West Main Street to the point of beginning.
(F) Sixth Ward. The Sixth Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of Mascoutah Avenue and the centerline of East Main Street; thence west along the centerline of East Main Street to its intersection with the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street); thence south along the centerline of State Route 159 (Illinois Street) to its intersection with the centerline of State Route 15; thence southeasterly along Route 15 to the city limits line of the City of Belleville, Illinois; thence in a general southeast direction along the city limits line in its various courses and meanders to the centerline of State Route 177 (Mascoutah Avenue); thence west along the centerline of State Route 177 (Mascoutah Avenue to its intersection with State Route 158 (South Belt East); thence continuing northwest along the centerline of Mascoutah Avenue to its intersection with East Main Street, being the point of beginning.
(G) Seventh Ward. The Seventh Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of East Main Street and its intersection with the centerline of Mascoutah Avenue; thence southeasterly along Mascoutah Avenue to its intersection with State Route 158 (South Belt East); thence continuing along the centerline of State Route 177 to the easterly city limits line of the City of Belleville, Illinois; thence in a general north-northwesterly direction along the city limits line in its various courses and meanders to its intersection with the centerline of East “A” Street; thence southwesterly along the centerline of East “A” Street to its intersection with the centerline of Douglas Avenue; thence southeasterly along the centerline of Douglas Avenue to its intersection with the centerline of East Main Street; thence along the centerline of East Main Street to the intersection with Mascoutah Avenue, being the point of beginning.
(H) Eighth Ward. The Eighth Ward shall comprise all that territory within the limits of this city embraced within the following description: commencing at the intersection of the centerline of South 35th Street with the centerline of West Main Street; thence northwesterly along the centerline of West Main Street to the western edge of the city limits line of the City of Belleville, Illinois; thence in a generally southerly-southeasterly direction along the city limits line in its various courses and meanders to its intersection with the westerly edge of “Roosevelt Heights” subdivision; thence northeasterly to the end point of the centerline of South 21st Street; thence northeasterly along the centerline of South 21st Street to its intersection with the centerline of Madison Avenue; thence northerly to the endpoint of the centerline of South 23rd Street; thence in a general northerly-northwesterly direction along the city limits line in its various courses and meanders to its interaction with a point 436 feet west of the terminus of the centerline of South 35th Street; thence east along the centerline of South 35th Street to a its intersection with the centerline of West Main Street, being the point of beginning.
