§ 33.042 DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF.
   The Deputy Fire Chief shall perform such duties as may be assigned to him or her by the Fire Chief or the City Council.
   (A)   Creation. It is hereby created the Office of Deputy Fire Chief, which office shall have the following duties.
      (1)   The Deputy Fire Chief shall be second in command of the Fire Department in the city in the absence of the Fire Chief from the city and during such other periods of the Fire Chief’s absence shall assume all the duties herein and before imposed by this subchapter upon Fire Chief.
      (2)   His or her hours of duty shall be fixed by the Fire Chief.
      (3)   The Deputy Fire Chief shall be subject to the orders of the Fire Chief and the Mayor.
   (B)   Salary. There should be allowed and paid to the Deputy Fire Chief an annual salary as provided in the budget ordinance which shall be paid in equal bi-weekly installments.
   (C)   Reversion of rank. If whomever has been appointed to perform the duties of Deputy Fire Chief shall be subsequently relieved of those duties, or the office abolished, he or she shall revert to the rank he or she held before his or her appointment to that office, if any, subject to the rules of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.
