§ 33.018 ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE.
   (A)   Creation. There is hereby created the Office of Assistant Chief of Police, which office shall have the following duties.
      (1)   The Assistant Chief of Police shall be second in command of the Police Force of the city, and, in the absence of the Chief of Police from the city or during other periods of the Chief of Police’s absence, shall assume all the duties herein before imposed by this chapter upon the Chief of Police.
      (2)   His or her hours of duty shall be fixed by the Chief of Police.
      (3)   The Assistant Chief of Police shall be subject to the orders of the Chief of Police and the Mayor.
   (B)   Salary. There shall be allowed and paid to the Assistant Chief of Police an annual salary as provided in the budget ordinance which shall be paid in equal semi-monthly installments.
   (C)   Reversion of rank. Whomever has been appointed to perform the duties of Assistant Chief of Police, and shall be subsequently relieved of those duties, or the office abolished, shall revert to the rank he or she held before his or her appointment to that office, if any, subject to the rules of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.
