A building permit shall become invalid if the work authorized by it is not commenced within six months of the issuance of such permit, or if the work is suspended or abandoned for a period of six months after the commencement of the work, or if the work is not completed within a period of two years from the permit issuance. However, for cause, one or more extensions of time for periods not exceeding ninety days each may be allowed by written permission of the City Engineer and/or City Service-Safety Director and/or his or her designated representative.
