The Commission shall consist of five members with two persons of different political parties appointed by the Mayor of the city, one person appointed by the Common Council and two persons of different political parties elected by the active members of the Department. The Commissioners must meet the requirements of IC 36-8-3.5-6 and be of good moral character. The term of a Commissioner shall be four years; however, one of the Mayor’s initial selections and one of the Department’s initial selections shall be for a term of two years. Elections by the Department members shall be conducted in accordance with IC 36-8-3.5-8. Commissioners shall serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and shall serve without compensation or per diem.
