§ 33.04 POLICE LONGEVITY PLANS.
   (A)   In addition to the salaries provided by ordinance, the regular members of the Police Department shall receive longevity pay in a $116 annual increment for each year of service, at the beginning of the following year, after their hire with the city as of January 1, 2019. This benefit only applies to employees’ most current employment with the city. Employees that resign or leave employment with the city and return to employment with the city cannot receive this benefit based on past employment history. This benefit will be calculated from the most recent hire date. Elected officials are not eligible for this benefit. This benefit is only available to full time employees.
   (B)   To determine additional compensation to which a police officer is entitled, the length of service shall be considered to be one year’s service if commenced prior to July l of any given year and the length of service shall be computed without regard to whether service was rendered prior or subsequent to January l, l962, and shall include time spent on temporary leave of absence for military service in the armed forces of the United States, provided the police officer has returned to duty with his or her respective department within 60 days after being honorably discharged from the military service. Increases shall become effective on January l of each given calendar year after the time-in service has accrued pursuant to division (A).
