(A) The Mayor is the city executive and head of the executive branch. He or she shall faithfully perform the duties and responsibilities contained in IC 36-4-5-1 et seq. and other statutes of the state.
(B) The Chiefs of the Police and Fire Departments, the head of the Community Services Department, the Street Department, the head of the Solid Waste Department, the City Engineer, the City Attorney, and the Director of Public Works and Safety shall be appointed by the Mayor and serve at his or her pleasure pursuant to IC 36-4-9-2 and 36-4-9-8. Pursuant to IC 36-4-9-2, the Mayor shall appoint the heads of the Sanitation Department and the Parks and Recreation Department, with approval of the statutory board operating the Department. Such appointees shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor as stated in IC 36-4-11-2.
