11-5-3: STORM SEWERS:
   (A)   Design: Adequate provisions shall be made in all subdivisions for the proper drainage of storm water. The design of the drainage system within the development shall anticipate and provide capacity for other drainage from naturally tributary land. Such design shall provide adequate capacity for transmitting such drainage from the other tributary areas on the basis of the ultimate development of such other tributary areas, but such drainage system need not make provision for the retention of other tributary areas, except as may be required by the board of trustees.
   (B)   Prohibitions: Open ditches shall be prohibited, except where they may be required in state or county rights of way, or as may otherwise be approved by the village board of trustees.
   (C)   Drainage: Any outfall storm sewer that drains into an existing open ditch or natural watercourse shall have a concrete headwall and a concrete apron installed in accordance with village standards and specifications.
   (D)   Drain Inlets: Drain inlets shall be placed in the street gutters at all intersections and elsewhere as required by the terrain, but shall not be spaced more than six hundred feet (600') nor less than four hundred feet (400') apart along the gutter.
   (E)   Sanitary Sewer System: Storm water shall not be directed into the sanitary sewer system and no connections between the storm and sanitary sewer systems will be permitted at any time before, during or after construction. (Ord. 468, 11-8-1976)
   (F)   Sump Pump Discharge Line Connection To Storm Sewer: Any residential sump pump ejector lines installed or replaced in or under a lot that abuts a storm sewer system shall discharge only directly into village approved subterranean drain tile that is connected to the village storm sewer system. All such ejector lines and drain tile shall be installed, connected and maintained in accordance with applicable provisions of the Illinois plumbing code. A violation of this provision shall be considered a business offense and shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) per day for each day of noncompliance. In addition, any violation of this provision shall authorize the denial of a certificate of occupancy until the sump pump discharge connection complies herewith. (Ord. 970, 8-25-2003)
