(A) Any employee who is actively working in or near a work environment where there is a potential for an impact and penetration hazard as well as from electrical shock and burn hazards must wear head protection.
(B) Head protection that meets the requirements of ANSI Z89.1-1986 must be worn if any of the following apply:
(1) Objects might fall from above and strike them on the head;
(2) They might bump their heads against fixed objects, such as exposed pipes or beams; or
(3) There is a possibility of accidental head contact with electrical hazards.
(C) Examples of activities where this would apply are: trimming tree limbs or cutting down trees, chipping brush, electrical work, entering a confined space and any construction where there is work going on overhead which increases the likelihood of a potential injury from a dropped object.
(D) Fire Brigade members head protection shall consist of a protective head device with ear flaps and chin strap which meet the performance, construction, and testing requirements of the U.S. Fire Administration.
