The applicant, on presentation of his or her application and certificate of inspection, shall purchase a license for each taxicab covered by the application from the Bedford Police Department. The annual license fee for each taxicab for the calendar year shall be $25.00. Application for renewal of the license shall be made each year in the month of December for the ensuing year. The fee for a license applied for between January l and July l of the current calendar year shall be that portion of $25.00 which is proportional to the unexpired portion of the current calendar year, and l5 days or more shall count as one full month. On or after July l of the current calendar year, the license fee for each taxicab for the remainder of the year shall be $12.50. The license shall not be sold or assigned by the holder except with the prior consent and approval of the Board of Public Works and Safety.
