135.31 LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)/PARAMEDIC.
(a) There are hereby established within the Division of Police two (2) part-time positions of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paramedic for the Corrections Facilities, who shall be under the control and supervision of the Assistant Chief and the Facility Physician, to be appointed by the Mayor. The position of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paramedic shall be within the unclassified service.
(b) The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paramedic shall be responsible for duties associated with providing inmate health services as are set forth in the City’s Employee Job Descriptions and as the same are hereafter amended and approved by the Mayor/Director of Public Safety, the Police Chief and Assistant Chief.
(c) The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paramedic shall further perform such duties on an on-call basis as required by the Assistant Chief.
(d) The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paramedic shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age and a high school graduate or possess equivalent experience and/or relevant education and hold a current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or shall be certified by the State of Ohio as a Paramedic with a minimum of one (1) year LPN experience or Paramedic experience.
(e) The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/ Paramedic shall be compensated in a range starting at ten dollars ($10.00)/hr. to fourteen dollars ($14.00)/hr. Raises shall be based on evaluation, attendance and merits, reviewed by the Assistant Chief and reported to the Mayor. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Paramedic shall receive such benefits as indicated under Chapter 157, Employees Generally, for part-time employees.
