135.248 FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME TRANSPORT/COURT OFFICER.

   (a)   There is hereby established within the Division of Police two (2) full-time positions and one (1) part-time position of Transport/Court Officer, who shall be under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Chief and shall be in the unclassified service.

   (b)   The full-time and part-time Transport/Court Officers shall be responsible for duties associated with, but not limited to, the security and transportation of prisoners to other jails, medical facilities for care, and to and from courts for hearings or arraignments as well as other miscellaneous duties required by the Corrections Facility as are set forth in the City’s Employee Job Descriptions and as the same are hereafter amended and approved by the Mayor/Director of Public Safety, the Police Chief and the Assistant Chief.

   (c)   Two (2) of the City’s full-time Corrections Officers shall be appointed as full-time Transport/Court Officers and one (1) of the City’s part-time Corrections Officers shall be appointed as part-time Transport/Court Officer to provide coverage for the post as required to operate the facility, according to the Minimum Standards for Jails in Ohio. The part-time Transport/Court Officers shall not exceed thirty-two (32) hours per week.

   (d)   The full-time and part-time Transport/Court Officers shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age and be a highschool graduate or possess equivalent experience and/or relevant education and have Ohio Peace Officer Certification and shall have successfully completed the Basic Corrections Officers Course approved by O.P.O.T.A. The full-time and part-time Transport/Court Officers shall also be considered a part-time Police Officer for purposes of his or her commission as to the duties as Transport/Court Officer stated in subsection (b) herein.
