111.33 PROCEDURE FOR CONSIDERATION AND APPOINTMENT TO CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS.
(a) In all instances in which the Charter and Codified Ordinances of the City of Bedford Heights provide for Council to exercise its power of appointment of members of the City’s Board and Commissions, the following procedure shall be followed:
(1) Council shall direct the Clerk of Council to advertise and post notice of any such vacancy for a period of seven (7) days. Persons interested in filling any such vacant position to a board or commission seat shall submit to the Clerk of Council a written request for consideration within fourteen (14) days from the initial advertising and posting of notice of the vacancy. The Clerk of Council shall include the deadline for submitting a written request for consideration in the initial notice provided herein.
(2) Council shall consider any resume or written materials submitted with an initial request for consideration by a person in support of that person’s appointment to the vacant board or commission seat. Any such resume or written materials shall be included with the person’s initial request to be considered for the vacant seat.
(3) Council shall appoint a person to fill the vacant board or commission seat within thirty (30) days from the deadline for the submission of written requests for consideration to fill the vacancy.
(4) Council may, in its discretion, fill said vacancy from the written requests submitted by interested persons. Council may also, in its discretion, conduct interviews for the vacant position if a majority of its members vote to conduct said interviews.
(5) No written request for consideration to fill a vacancy on a City board or commission shall be accepted or considered if that person is a City employee or a current member of another board or commission at the time the written request if filed with the Clerk of Council.
