918.01 PURPOSE.
(a) The purpose of this chapter is to establish certain guidelines and standards concerning the use of sanitary sewers in the City so as to prevent the introduction of pollutants into the City wastewater system which will interfere with the normal operation of the system or contaminate the resulting sludge; to prevent the introduction of pollutants into the City wastewater system which do not receive adequate treatment in the POTW, (Publicly Owned Treatment Works), and which will pass through the system into receiving waters or the atmosphere or otherwise be incompatible with the system; and to improve the opportunity to recycle and reclaim wastewater and sludge from the system.
(b) This chapter further provides for the regulation of discharges into the City wastewater system through the enforcement of administrative regulations. This chapter does not provide for the recovery of operations, maintenance or replacement costs of the POTW or the costs associated with the construction of collection and treatment systems used by Industrial Discharges, in proportion to their use of the POTW, which are the subject of Chapter 920, Industrial Pretreatment.
