557.04 ASSESSMENT OF COSTS BY MUNICIPALITY.
   Whenever any tree, plant, shrubbery, or part thereof, or any weeds and grass are growing in any street or public place or upon any private property contiguous to a street, sidewalk or public place, and are trimmed or removed by the City, the City shall, after the work is done, give five days notice, by regular mail, to the owner of such lot or parcel of land, at his last known address, to pay the cost of such trimming or removal, which notice shall be accompanied by a statement of the amount of cost incurred. In the event the same is not paid within thirty days after the mailing of such notice, such amount shall be certified to the County Auditor for collection the same as other taxes and assessments are collected. The remedy provided for herein shall be in addition to the penalties provided in Sections 557.01(b) and 557.02(b).
