Any person who shall violate the provisions of this subchapter or who shall fail to comply with any of the requirements thereof, or who shall conduct activities in violation of a permit issued under the provisions of this subchapter or who shall, without having applied for and received an approved permit, conduct activities for which a permit is required under the terms of this subchapter shall be, upon conviction thereof, sentenced to a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.
