Employees may be voluntarily separated from service by either retirement or resignation.
(A) Retirement.RETIREMENT is defined as voluntarily leaving employment with the intention of obtaining benefits and may be based upon age or length of service.
(B) Resignation. Employees may resign either in good standing or not in good standing.
(1) Employees resign in good standing by submitting a letter of resignation at least ten working days prior to the effective date. Employees who resign in good standing may be considered for future employment with the county.
(2) Employees resign not in good standing when:
(a) They fail to submit letters of resignation at least ten working days in advance of the effective day;
(b) They are absent one working day following a leave of absence without pay;
(c) They are absent without authorized leave for three working days; or
(d) They resign to avoid announced disciplinary action.
(3) Employees resigning not in good standing are normally ineligible for future employment with the county.
